On October 11, 2024, College of Hospitality and Tourism, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya held a cultural tourism activity at Kantang community, Trang Province. The event aims to connect the Kantang history, way of life, and culture with students and other interested participants. It provided opportunity to learn about local products made from nipa palm, a significant aspect of local people.
The event was organized by Dr. Jutima Boonmee who led third-year students in Community-Based Tourism course and second-year transfer students majoring in Tourism to join the activity. The participated students enhanced their knowledge and experience in cultural tourism.
The event also emphasized the development of local enterprises. The participants enjoyed to learn the production process of handicrafts using natural materials and explore historically significant tourist sites in Kantang district. Moreover, the activity was supported by collaboration between local speakers and CHT lecturers to develop tourism activities that align with the local way of life. It marks an important step toward developing creative tourism and emphasizing local community participation.
