On November 19, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya hosted a pivotal meeting to integrate the disciplines of the College of Hotel and Tourism Management (CHT) and the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology (FishTech). The aim of this collaboration was to develop a comprehensive program comprising one and a half years of academic study followed by a six-month internship, with a focus on cultivating professionals in the fields of hospitality and gastronomy.
Prof. Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, along with Asst. Prof. Fapilai Taweesinsopa, Director of the College of Hotel and Tourism Management (CHT), and Dr. Nathathai Krebs, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Research of the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology, attended the meeting. Faculty members from the Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Program and the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology were also in attendance.
This integration combines knowledge in hospitality and tourism with food science and fisheries products to design a curriculum that meets labor market demands. It aims to enhance students with comprehensive practical skills. The primary goal of this collaboration is to produce graduates with international knowledge and skills, addressing the needs of the hospitality, food, and tourism industries, which are key pillars of Thailand’s economy. The meeting reflects the university’s commitment to leading integrated education while fostering sustainable community and regional economic development.
