Tourism and Hospitality Program, College of Hospitality and Tourism, Organizes Skill Development Activities: Kayaking, Tent Pitching, and Interpreter Training to Enhance Professional Skills in Tourism and Hospitality


On December 18, 2024, the Tourism and Hospitality Program of the College of Hospitality and Tourism (CHT), Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV), Trang Campus, organized a skill development activity titled ‘Kayaking, Tent Pitching, and Interpreter Training’ at Rajamangala Resort, CHT. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ skills in hospitality, water-based tourism, and professional interpretation.

Asst. Prof. Fapilai Taweesinsopa, Director of the CHT, assigned Dr.Jutuporn Hokta, Deputy Director of Administration and Planning, to open the ceremony. Dr. Jatuporn emphasized the importance of comprehensive skill development in tourism, integrating theoretical knowledge and practical application, and encouraged students to learn through direct experiences.

The event received enthusiastic participation from students and teachers of Sikaopracha Phadungwit School, Sikao District, Trang Province, who joined CHT students to learn and develop skills together. The activity provided invaluable hands-on experience, fostering the development of high-quality professionals in the tourism industry.

In the morning, participants attended a lecture on ‘Knowledge and Understanding of Tourism and Hospitality’ delivered by Dr. Jutima Boonmee, a lecturer in the Tourism and Hospitality Program. The session focused on the principles of sustainable tourism and effective communication techniques. This was followed by demonstrations on diving equipment, tent pitching, and kayaking techniques, led by Dr. Suyaporn Sortrakul, also a lecturer in the program. Students and participants then applied their learning through practical exercises conducted in a fun and engaging atmosphere.

In the afternoon, students from CHT and Sikaopracha Phadungwit School participated in a ‘Tourism Guiding Skills Workshop’ designed to enhance communication skills, the ability to share engaging information, and the creation of positive experiences for tourists. The workshop, conducted by CHT staff, prepared students and participants for professional roles in the tourism and hospitality industry while promoting awareness of sustainable conservation tourism. The knowledge and skills acquired during this activity can be applied to meet the evolving demands of the growing tourism industry.
