From May 2–5, 2025, the College of Hospitality and Tourism, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Trang Campus, held a short course training on basic scuba diving titled “Open Water: Rajamangala Trang SCUBA Diving” at the Trang Sea. The course aimed to provide knowledge, develop skills, and promote hands-on learning in marine ecotourism for the general public.
The course was designed to include both theoretical and practical components. Trainees learned about diving equipment, buoyancy control, underwater breathing techniques, and emergency management and practiced in a swimming pool before completing four open-water dives in the Trang Sea. The goal was to ensure participants could dive safely while fostering awareness for marine environmental conservation.
This program was organized by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, College of Hospitality and Tourism, in collaboration with the private sector partner Laytrang Diving Company, led by Mr. Nattawat Sasithorn, a professional diving instructor based in Trang.
The college is now inviting applications for the next “Open Water” scuba diving course, which will take place in October. Successful participants will receive a PADI diving certification. This is a great opportunity for sea lovers who wish to explore the underwater world and gain new experiences.
