Tourism Challenge Club Organizes “Sharing from the Heart for a Sustainable Future of Thai Elephants” Activity

On February 4, 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tammachak Lakbanchong, Chair of Tourism and Hospitality Program, Asst. Prof. Supaphon Charoensuk, Dr. Suyaporn Sortrakul, together with college members, led first-year students of the Tourism and Hospitality program on a study visit to the Krabi Elephant Hospital in Klong Thom district and Tham Prasat Nala Kirin Temple in Plai Phraya district, Krabi Province.
The activity aimed to provide students with experiential learning regarding the Thai elephants and their roles in cultural, tourism, and conservation contexts. The team also engaged in charity activities by visiting sick elephants and donating essential supplies to support the hospital’s mission.
This visit was organized by Tourism Challenge, College of Hospitality and Tourism (CHT), to promote experiential learning while encouraging awareness and responsibility among students towards conservation of natural resources and wildlife.
The activities included an educational visiting allowed the students learn about proper elephant care and treatment, the donation of necessary supplies for elephant support, and visiting the cultural tourism destination, Tham Prasat Nala Kirin Temple, recognized as the only artistic landmark in Thailand, which integrated knowledge of eco-tourism and cultural tourism.
The activity reflects the important role of the CHT in developing students’ knowledge, skills, and social responsibility, preparing them to become qualified tourism professionals for future sustainable tourism development.
