The College of Hospitality and Tourism, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), Trang Campus, in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, RUTS, Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus (Thung Yai Area), has integrated academic cooperation to organize a diving skills training program for veterinary students. The initiative aims to enhance students\u2019 knowledge and practical experience, develop their professional competencies, and prepare them for future careers.
A total of 161 students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in the training program, including 38 first-year students from the Veterinary Technology program, 12 first-year students from the Animal Nursing program, and 111 first- and second-year students from the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The course is being conducted during the semester break, from April to May 2026, with participants divided into five groups to ensure comprehensive and effective practical training at the College of Hospitality and Tourism, Trang Campus.
The training was organized under the course \u201cDiving for Veterinary Students,\u201d which focuses on equipping students with knowledge of diving equipment, proper diving techniques, and safety procedures in real-life situations. The College of Hospitality and Tourism has fully supported the program through expert personnel and comprehensive learning resources.
On this occasion, Assistant Professor Fapilai Thaweesinsopa, Director of the College of Hospitality and Tourism, assigned Assistant Professor Dr. Thammachak Lekbanjong, Chair of the Bachelor of Arts Program in Tourism and Hospitality; Dr. Sunyaporn Sotrakul, Lecturer in the Tourism and Hospitality Program; and Mr. Santipap Thipsri, Academic and Research Affairs Officer, to serve as instructors and supervisors for the practical training. All are highly experienced and knowledgeable in diving instruction and field-based training.
Beyond integrating interdisciplinary knowledge between tourism and veterinary sciences, this initiative also provides students with valuable opportunities for experiential learning outside the classroom. The practical skills acquired can be applied directly to professional contexts, such as marine life exploration, biological sample collection, and veterinary fieldwork. This collaboration represents another meaningful academic partnership that not only strengthens students\u2019 knowledge and practical abilities but also reflects the power of interdepartmental cooperation within the university. Ultimately, it contributes to the development of high-quality graduates who are well-prepared to meet the needs of society and the nation in the future.
