Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Elevates Hotel Management to Meet Green Hotel Standards, Boosting Sustainable Tourism

The College of Hospitality and Tourism at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) held a pivotal event on September 17, 2024, with the aim of assessing and enhancing hotel management practices in line with Green Hotel standards. The event took place at Dugong Village Hotel and the college’s Trang campus, under the leadership of Project Director, Ms. Jantiwan Samathi. The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Supitchaya Boonkuea, Deputy Director for Academic and Research Affairs, on behalf of Asst. Prof. Fapilai Taweesinsopa, Director of the College of Hospitality and Tourism.

The project focuses on developing eco-friendly hotel management through key activities such as seminars on “Sustainable Accommodation Development in Accordance with Green Hotel Standards” and hotel evaluations based on various environmental criteria, including environmental policy, personnel development, and sustainable waste and resource management.

This initiative also garnered support from several key organizations within Trang Province, including the Office of Natural Resources and Environment, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Trang Provincial Tourism and Sports Office. Local hotel managers, whose properties have achieved Green Hotel status, played an instrumental role in sharing valuable knowledge and best practices for environmental preservation in the hospitality industry.

The project is a key step in upgrading RMUTSV’s Trang Resort to meet Green Hotel standards, enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage, and aligning with the growing trend of sustainable tourism that prioritizes the conservation of natural resources and minimizes environmental impacts.
